## The Art of Storytelling with Data

The art of storytelling is just as important with data as it is with words. At its core, effective data visualization is about conveying information in a compelling way that resonates with your audience. The best visualizations don't just present data - they tell a story.

When working with data, it's easy to get lost in the details. But you need to take a step back and consider the narrative you want to share. What insights do you want your readers to walk away with? Your visuals should lead them on a journey of discovery.

"I think of data visualization as a type of composition," says designer Jonathan Drummey. "There are motifs and themes that you use to develop your point and keep the viewer engaged."

"I like to engage the audience with an opening question to frame the exploration," says data journalist Mona Chalabi. "From there, it's about taking them on a logical journey using charts as waypoints."
